Dutch Masters | Craft Syndicate: Tony Lewis Jr. Mini Doc

Editor

Documentary is my favorite thing to work on as an editor. The flexibility to find and hone the story in the edit is fun and rewarding. Whereas narrative editing often feels like solving a puzzle, documentary editing makes me think of sculpting or painting—the base components are there from the beginning, but the clay is untouched, the canvas blank.

Even little pieces like this mini doc for Dutch Masters’ Craft Syndicate series was awesome to put together. I had very a limited b-roll library, and so I had to get very creative to help tell Tony Lewis Jr.’s fascinating story of fighting for prison reform, and against gentrification in Washington D.C.
